What does the kitchen need?

STEP 1 OF 7

Meet Tiffin

Asha runs a kitchen in Pune that cooks lunch for office workers. Today, orders arrive on WhatsApp: people message her a dish, she writes it in a notebook, and her riders deliver at lunchtime. It works for about 100 orders a day. It won't work for what she has planned.

She wants an app. She has asked you to design it.

This lab is the first in a series. Tiffin grows module by module, and each module's lab is the next thing that breaks as it grows: the menu page under the lunch rush, the database, slow exports, live order tracking. Today it's one kitchen, and you start from a blank page.

What you'll do

Interview Asha to find out what she actually needs.
Sort what you heard into functional and non-functional requirements.
Decide what to give up, and why.
Draw the first design and put it under lunchtime load.
Explain your design to Asha in a paragraph.
