Choose the policy you would defend in a design review. Choices save as you go.

1.What should happen when the clock goes backward?

Reuse sequence zero immediatelyWait or refuse issuance until the documented monotonic bound is safeIgnore the timestamp

2.Does a time-sortable ID establish global event order?

Always, even across partitionsOnly when the suffix is randomNo; clock skew and concurrent generation prevent strict global ordering

3.What happens on sequence exhaustion within one tick?

Wait for a safe later tick or return a bounded retryable errorWrap to zero in the same tickBorrow another active worker ID
